“By supplying weapons to Kiev, Italy, perhaps against its will and at least against the will of the majority of its citizens, is being drawn into a military confrontation, becoming a party to the conflict,” he said in an interview with ANSA.

According to the diplomat, supplying the Kiev regime with better weapons and equipment does not bring peace closer, but fuels the conflict and multiplies the casualties.

Earlier, Berlusconi expressed the opinion that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should have “stopped attacking the two autonomous republics of Donbas” in order to avoid conflict.

The former Italian prime minister stressed that he “negatively assessed” the behaviour of the Ukrainian leader.

In his turn, Zelenskyy rebuked Berlusconi for the fact that “his house was not bombed,” although the Italian politician witnessed the first bombing of Milan by Allied aircraft as a child.
