Major General Yevgeny Ilyin, deputy head of the main directorate for international military cooperation at the Defense Ministry, said.

Yevgeny Ilyin added, “The levels announced by Vladimir Vladimirovich concerning the number of carriers of nuclear warheads will also be observed… The exchange of notifications under the 1988 agreements between the Soviet Union and the United States of America is in place and will be implemented in full. In terms of fulfilling the obligations of this agreement, the measures are aimed at preventing false positives, which is important for maintaining strategic stability,” he said speaking in the State Duma, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

On February 21, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said Russia was suspending its participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.

Moscow is not withdrawing from the treaty, it is suspending its participation, the president said.

The Duma has already adopted the president’s bill.
