The statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the suspension of Moscow’s participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START or START-3) is an important signal to the United States and the West, not a threat, said Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the Federation Council commission on information policy and interaction with the media. In his TG channel, he noted that this step is also a warning.

“The statement about the suspension of Russia’s participation in START-3 is not a threat, but an important signal to the United States and the West regarding an area that is extremely important for their security. This is also a warning: the West’s course of strategic defeat of Russia is incompatible with the preservation of the current system of global nuclear security,” Pushkov wrote.

As the senator pointed out, the treaty itself is the most important part of the global nuclear security that exists at the moment.
