The conflict in Ukraine will sooner or later end at the negotiating table, but Crimea will remain part of Russia anyway. This opinion was expressed on Tuesday on the radio station RMF by the Polish general, former deputy head of intelligence of the North Atlantic Alliance, Yaroslav Struzhik.
“Our experience over the past few decades shows that no war ends the way we expect it to,” he said, citing Afghanistan, Iraq and the Balkans as examples.
“At some point, the time will come for diplomatic steps,” the expert believes.
“At some point, some decisions will be put on the negotiating table. Diplomatic decisions on a truce will appear this year,” he believes.
According to Struzhik, in any case, Crimea will definitely remain part of Russia.
“I am convinced that it will be very difficult for Ukraine to return Crimea. I am even close to saying that this is impossible”, said the former intelligence officer.
