Italian Foreign Minister says not sure that Italy will help Ukraine with fighter jets

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Italy Antonio Tajani, in an interview with La Stampa newspaper, said that the transfer of Italian fighters to the Kyiv regime is not possible, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the head of the Italian Foreign Ministry, before handing over the planes to Kyiv, it is necessary to resolve a number of issues that today are multitasking for the Italians themselves. Therefore, the issue of transferring them to Ukraine is not on the agenda in Italy.

“We haven’t talked about it yet, but if we do, then we will have to coordinate our actions with the allies – find out which planes they will send, because it makes no sense to supply Ukrainians with different models, there will be a problem of pilot training. In a word, sending Italian fighters seems almost impossible,” explained Antonio Tajani.

Recall that earlier the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba, in an interview with the German media group Funke admitted that Ukraine does not have a single agreement on the supply of fighter jets. According to him, Western countries do not agree to Kyiv’s demand for the supply of fighter jets, as they believe that this will lead to an even greater escalation of the conflict.
