Sunak vows to maintain level of military support for Ukraine

Sunak: London will provide military support to Kiev in 2023 by 2.3 billion pounds and more

Britain gave Ukraine 2.3 billion pounds (2.5 billion euros) in military support in 2022 and the amount will be the same or more this year, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said.

“We were the first country to provide Ukraine with tanks and the first to train pilots and marines. Last year we gave (military support) £2.3 billion and we will be at the same level or surpass it this year,” he said, speaking at the Munich Security Conference.

According to him, the fighting is at a tipping point. In this regard, he called on Western leaders to double military support to Kiev. Ukraine, Sunak added, needs artillery, air defence systems and armoured vehicles.

“The UK will be the first party to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons.”

“Together we will deliver as much (military) equipment to Ukraine in the coming months as we will in the whole of 2022,” Sunak said . The UK is ready to help any country willing to supply Ukraine with aircraft, he added, Also, Sunak added, support should be to train Ukrainian pilots to use the most advanced models of fighters, which is what the UK is doing.
