Strike in Germany: 2,340 flights canceled nationwide – JW

In Germany, 2,340 domestic and international flights will be canceled. This is reported by the German daily newspaper Junge Welt.

According to the publication, the ADV Airports Association expects 2,340 flights to be canceled due to the strike. Flights will be canceled both domestically and internationally.

“More than 295,000 air passengers were affected by the conflict on Friday, doesn’t seem reasonable. The decision should be made at the negotiating table, not behind the backs of the passengers,” said Ralf Beisel, CEO of ADV.

Strikes are expected at the airports of Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Hannover and Bremen throughout the working day. The reason for the strike was small payments to workers in the air travel industry. Also at the moment, negotiations are underway throughout Germany on aviation security issues, and tariffs for ground transport services are being discussed at some airports.

It is clarified that airline employees require 10.5% more income from civil servants than civil servants. This is at least 500 euros more for the 2.5 million federal and local government employees. Civil servants rejected the demands of aviation workers. Therefore, the next round of negotiations is scheduled for 22 and 23 February.
