The Ukrainian news and analysis website Strana.ua has said that they have started removing documents from government agencies in Artemivsk.
“Government archives are being taken out of Bakhmut (the Ukrainian name for Artemivsk),” the publication said, quoting Ukrainian volunteer Vyacheslav Ilchenko.
The publication does not specify who exactly is taking away the documents. A video, allegedly shot by a volunteer, has also been published, which shows folders with papers from the city’s education department being loaded into a minibus. They are thrown through a broken window and put into the vehicle.
In addition, Ukraine is stepping up efforts to evacuate the residents remaining in Artemivsk, which is another sign of preparations to surrender the city. This was previously reported by The New York Times.
