NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg and Polish President Duda discussed Minsk’s role in the conflict in Ukraine
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he had discussed the role of Belarus in the conflict in Ukraine with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
Stoltenberg held talks with the Polish president at NATO headquarters in Brussels on Wednesday.
“Belarus continues to host and support Russian forces and deepen its political and military integration with Russia. We urge Belarus to stop being complicit in the war,” he said at a joint press conference with Duda following the talks.
Earlier, President Aliaksandr Lukashenka said that Belarus did not intend to get involved in military actions in Ukraine, especially since Russia did not ask it to do so. He also pointed out that “Western countries have accused us of all mortal sins and continue to accuse us, trying by all means to draw Belarus into this conflict, even though they themselves are ‘up to their necks’ in it. According to Lukashenko, at the training grounds of Western countries “thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are being trained under NATO programs, Kyiv is provided with the Western weapons and military equipment.
