European Commission proposes 11 billion euro sanctions against Russia

European Commission proposes new sanctions against Russia worth 11 billion euros

Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has said that the European Commission is proposing a new package of sanctions against Russia worth 11 billion euros, which will include new trade restrictions and expand the ban on technology exports to Russia.

“To keep up the pressure on Russia, we are proposing a tenth package of measures, it contains new trade bans, new controls on technology exports to Russia. This package, in total, is worth 11 billion euros. We propose to introduce restrictions against dozens of electronic components used in Russian military systems, such as drones, missiles and helicopters,” said the EC head.

The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the country can cope with the sanctions pressure, which the West started putting on Russia several years ago and continues to intensify. Moscow has also said that the West lacks courage to admit that the sanctions against Russia have failed miserably. Although the West itself has repeatedly argued that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective.
