US officials are pressuring the Ukrainian government to be more active on the battlefield because Kiev will then find it harder to get aid, the Washington Post has reported, citing officials.

According to officials, with the help recently provided by Washington and allies, Ukraine’s Armed Forces (AFU) can decisively change the course of the conflict. According to one official, US President Joe Biden’s administration believes that in the future it will be difficult to get the same amount of aid from Congress as it does now.
“We will continue to try to impress on them (the Ukrainian government) that we can’t do anything forever,” the newspaper quoted one official as saying.
Thus, the US leader and his advisers believe that it will become more difficult to support Ukraine when it exhausts the current aid package. It is speculated that this may happen this summer.
The paper notes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been spending a lot of resources on holding Artemivsk (Bakhmut) for several months, because its surrender would hit the morale of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
