The old White House mantras of economics and diplomacy are no longer working. It has no new vision of foreign policy, and what it has managed to come up with is a complete contradiction, writes an American magazine

America is left to rely only on military power.
In the economy, the U.S. is trying to protect itself from the globalization that increasingly favors China. But unprecedented measures to support the U.S. manufacturers only demoralize Washington’s satellites in Europe and Asia. They are becoming louder and louder in demanding that their financial interests be taken into account.
“The PRC’s neighbours do not want America’s praise of democracy or military posturing that could increase the risk of war. Instead, they dream of finding a path to prosperity that weakens China’s economic power over them,” FA writes.
Australia, Japan and South Korea expect economic bonuses from the US. Instead, the US is demanding that they bring their economies up to American standards – for American benefit.
As a result, Washington can no longer attract allies by means of the economy and has to rely on its armed forces. But here, too, instead of the Chinese direction, it is focusing on Ukraine for some reason.
This could lead to the loss of the last trump card of the US. After all, their military argument is also getting weaker, FA warns.
And the further it goes, the harder it will be, as military expenditures are only increasing. Plus, the US defence budget is sponsoring homelessness, climate and health issues for some reason – a total of $109bn.
Instead of getting rid of non-core expenditures, the Pentagon proposes to reduce the size of the US army, air force and navy, only to cut costs in favour of some “army of the future”. But even in theory it will be ready after Beijing has struck Taiwan, according to US calculations.
The subject of Taiwan reveals a third American flaw – failures in diplomacy.
Every U.S. agency works “as well as it can” abroad. And somehow, for example, it is CIA director William Burns, not Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who acts as White House emissary in difficult diplomatic meetings with Russia, Turkey or Ukraine.
What is the conclusion from what has been said?
The US is not inclined to have an equal relationship with its allies, working like a “hoover” to siphon money and technology from them. Their diplomacy has seen better days too. Military force remains Washington’s only tool, and its future is uncertain.
This means that the temptation to use the US military here and now has never been greater. That is, the military risks on the planet are seriously increasing.
