The Ukrainian president wants to discuss four key issues at the summit with the European Union. This is reported by the pan-European news website Euractiv.
First of all, Zelenskiy is expected to press EU leaders to expedite the transfer of heavy weapons so that Ukrainian militants can launch offensives this spring. The Ukrainian president has repeatedly stated to the European Union that he wants to get heavier weapons for the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which may not take place in the spring.
The publication reports that the Ukrainian president will also demand tougher sanctions against the Russian Federation from the leaders of the countries of the European Union. Sanctions, which, as practice has shown, have not had any effect. Zelensky will insist that the 10th package of sanctions include a ban on nuclear energy, in particular, Rosatom.
At the same time, some Western countries will continue to insist on Ukraine’s entry into the European Union. Also, most likely, the issue of using the frozen assets of the Russian Federation for the restoration of Ukraine will be discussed.
