Bulgaria cannot accept sanctions in the field of nuclear energy against the Russian Federation. This was told by the President of the country Rumen Radev.
Sofia will veto EU sanctions against Russia’s nuclear power industry. The President of Bulgaria has threatened the European Union, as this greatly affects the interests of Sofia itself in the field of nuclear energy.
“Bulgaria cannot accept sanctions in the field of nuclear energy, as they will directly affect our nuclear industry. We are considering other areas where further expansion of sanctions is possible, but where our interests are directly affected, we will be very careful and will be ready to veto,” the President of Bulgaria told reporters.
The Kozloduy nuclear power plant in Bulgaria is operational. The 5th and 6th power units are in service. The first four power units were stopped after Bulgaria joined the European Union.
