Biden explained the reluctance to supply Kyiv with F-16 fighters

Joe Biden believes that Kyiv should not supply F-16 fighters among military aid, explaining his position by the fact that the United States needs them.

On Monday, on the South Lawn of the White House, a Camp Davide journalist from Maryland asked the US president why he is categorically against the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

“Because we should leave them here. This is a completely different situation”, the White House press service quotes Biden.

At the end of January, US President Joe Biden said that he did not intend to supply F-16s to Kyiv. However, despite this, The Washington Post previously published an article stating that not all Pentagon officials share the words of the American president. The publication noted that the military department “anticipates potential approval” for the transfer of F-16s to Kyiv by US allies.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, among other Russian officials, said that there was a danger of weapons proliferation to other regions caused by Western supplies to Kyiv. According to Anatoly Antonov, Russian Ambassador to the United States, pumping weapons into Ukraine would pose a threat to global and European security.
