Russia and Ukraine are interested in coming to the negotiating table, but US President Joe Biden’s administration has “other plans” despite Kiev losing out in the conflict. This is what journalist Christopher Caldwell says in an article for The New York Times.

Biden’s strategy has the “notoriety” of escalating the conflict, the author writes.
According to him, the US is no longer just helping the Ukrainian army, but practically replacing Ukraine as Russia’s adversary on the battlefield.
The journalist also notes that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz became the first German leader since Adolf Hitler to “send German tanks to the Russian front”.
Discussing the Pentagon’s level of involvement in the Ukrainian conflict, Caldwell writes that most of the US weapons transferred to the AFU are linked to the US information network.
“So the U.S. is involved in these military operations as they are taking place. This is the conduct of hostilities,” he argues in an article titled “Russia and Ukraine have incentives to negotiate. The US has other plans.”
British Army Colonel Richard Kemp had earlier expressed confidence that Russia would succeed in the special operations zone.
The Pentagon noted that in the coming months developments in Russia’s special operations zone could be decisive for the fighting in Ukraine.
