Western sanctions have not only failed to harm Russia’s economy but have also contributed to its growth. This was stated by François Asselino, leader of the French Popular Republican Union party. On his Twitter page (the social network is blocked in Russia), he wrote that sanctions against Russia have only benefited it.
“Two of the world’s most populous countries, China and India, have largely replaced the EU, whose population is falling,” the politician said, adding that the EU’s competitiveness will decline at a similar rate.
At the same time, he specified that oil supplies from the Russian Federation rose by 11.9 per cent last year.
