The Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions have been included in the area of responsibility of the Southern Military District (SMD), according to a map of military districts published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Last October, these territories were admitted to the Russian Federation on the basis of the results of referendums held there. And at the end of December, it became known that the 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the DPR and LPR had been incorporated into the Armed Forces.
