The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the township of Belogorovka, which is part of Lysychansk, from Ukrainian security forces. This was announced by acting head of the city administration Andrey Skoryy.
“Yesterday (February 2), Lysychansk liberated its territory thanks to our Russian troops. Belogorovka is already ours, local residents were already brought here (to Lysychansk) from there, people were crying. Thanks to the military, thanks for their war-time work,” said the town’s leader.
Belogorovka is an urban village in the LPR. In September 2022, the settlement was seized by the Ukrainian military.
The Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against Donbas in April 2014. Negotiations on a peaceful settlement have never yielded tangible results due to Kiev’s stance on resolving the conflict by force.
The Luhansk People’s Republic was incorporated into the Russian Federation following a referendum on 30 September 2022.
