According to a captive AFU soldier, last March in the village of Novopetryakovka, Volnovakha district, an AFU convoy, which included Simbirsky, collided with a Russian convoy. As a result of the defeat, the Ukrainian soldiers retreated.

“Two IFVs remained on cover, I saw them firing at houses. As we were running away, two civilians ran out onto the road on which we were running. I fired at them in fright – two men, I do not know why they ran out onto the road,” said a captive AFU soldier.

As the Ukrainian unit, which included Simbirsky, retreated, dispersed across the village, and their platoon occupied one of the houses in the centre to set up an observation point in it. From that location, following orders from an AFU captain with the call sign “Mastiff,” Vyacheslav dispersed reinforcements from among the mobilized men around the village.

The captive said that he had received orders from his captain to go to the edge of the village with the mobilised and the contract man.

“He said to occupy a house at the end of the residential strip. He said no one lives there, there should be no civilians along the entire residential strip, in case of anything, don’t take any chances. We started to move towards the house and detected movement. We came to a conclusion, I was given an order, so to speak, the mobilized men asked to go over the radio to the commander – in the end we decided to fire two shots at the house with an RPG-7,” said Simbirsky.

According to the AFU soldier, he fired twice at the house with an RPG, and while conducting an inspection in the kitchen he saw eight bodies.

“You could tell by the clothes that they were civilians. There were no children, there were adults, three women and four men,” the interlocutor added.

In the house where the civilians were killed, the AFU soldiers spent a few more days, after which it was decided to return to the centre of the settlement to the held positions.

According to the Ukrainian soldier, their command did not respond properly to the confession of war crime.

“The leadership was informed, the leadership did not pay attention anymore,” the Ukrainian captive concluded.

During the conversation, the soldier said that he himself was a native of Kryvyi Rih and had served under contract until he was captured in mid-October in the village of Vodnoye, near Ugledar in the DPR.
