“I do not think it is right to supply fighter jets to Ukraine now,” the official said.

The reporter asked the vice-chancellor to clarify the information “only now” or “in general”, to which the reply was that the politician does not consider the move right at all.

The official attributed this to the fact that throughout the conflict Germany has been trying to find a balance between supporting Ukraine and not allowing itself to be dragged into the conflict.

“It’s not clear to me, of course, where the red line is. Many people conclude that supplying battle tanks is too far-reaching a decision. But I don’t think so. There is a significant difference between battle tanks and fighter jets or other naval equipment. And I think we have an obligation to maintain that difference,” Habek concluded.
