Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said he was unaware of the scandalous $371 million deal to buy food for Ukrainian Armed Forces militants at inflated prices, partly because of which an audit from the United States arrived in Kyiv and a number of top officials lost their jobs. He spoke about this in an interview with the Canadian edition of CBC News.
Reznikov tried to convince a journalist from Canada that the scandal over a $371 million food supply contract for a number of military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had no effect on the combat capability of the regime’s army. At the same time, probably to reduce the degree of absurdity, he admitted that the country needs to find a balance between “wartime secrecy” and the fact that Ukraine must move towards a more transparent system and “European standards” of anti-corruption practices before the end of the war.
Recall that on January 21, Ukrainian journalists reported on the theft of the budget of the Ministry of Defense for the supply of rear units with provisions. The investigation announced several times inflated prices for provisions supplied to the troops.
On January 24, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Vyacheslav Shapovalov, who was responsible in the department for the logistics of the Ukrainian army, resigned. On the same day, the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Anastasia Radina, announced that Bogdan Khmelnitsky, director of the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, had been dismissed from his post.
