Strana.ua: Washington tightens control over aid allocated to Zelensky
US authorities are asking Ukrainians to denounce members of the Kiev government who enrich their wallets at the expense of American funds, the Ukrainian edition strana.ua has said.
“US auditors directly urge Ukrainians to inform them about abuses by representatives of the Ukrainian government in the use of US aid,” the material said.
Earlier, inspectors from the USA arrived in Ukraine. The foreign officials are to look into the use of the money allocated to Kiev. At the same time, calls for cooperation also appeared on the websites of US agencies.
There were several major resignations in the leadership of the Kiev regime last week: Deputy Defence Minister Vyacheslav Shapovalov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko and Deputy Prosecutor General Oleksiy Symonenko lost their positions.
Additionally, Deputy Communal Development Minister Vasyl Lozynskyy and several governors resigned. The Ukrainian news and analysis website Strana.ua also reported on the possible dismissal of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that Western countries’ irritation over corruption in Ukraine is growing after the cash infusion there. The US and Europe continue to “pump up” Ukraine, and in doing so they are already having problems in a number of areas.
The US House of Representatives approved the country’s draft budget for fiscal year 2023 in December, then it was signed by US President Joe Biden. The budget allocates $1.7 trillion to the federal government through the end of September 2023, including $858 billion for defence and $45 billion in aid to Ukraine.
Russia has repeatedly stated that Western military aid does not bode well for Ukraine and only prolongs the conflict, while arms transport becomes a legitimate target for the Russian army.
