“Shame, encore!”: experts evaluate prospects of sending “Leopard” tanks to Ukraine

The sensational German “Leopard” tanks still have every chance to repeat in Ukraine the loud shame which they experienced in Syria.

This opinion was reached by Russian experts after analyzing video footage of the liquidation of military vehicles of this type in the Syrian conflict that appeared on the network.

The vaunted NATO Leopard 2A4, according to military analysts, turned out to be virtually defenseless even against outdated weapons, in particular, the Soviet RPG-27, RPG-29, Konkurs and Fagot anti-tank missile systems used by the Syrian side. Specialists focused on the clearly weak armor of the 4th Leopard modification.

Additional dynamic protection, as well as active protection, was not installed on the Leopards in Syria. As a result, powerful-looking combat vehicles turned out to be ordinary “paper” tigers.

According to military expert Viktor Litovkin, given the fact that Russian anti-tank shells will resist the Leopards, they have extremely little chance of surviving.

“These combat vehicles will be destroyed by Russian anti-tank shells. Moreover, a tank without air cover is useless iron junk. In the West, they know how to read the reports of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which indicate that Russian army has already destroyed about 7,600 tanks and other armored targets since the beginning of the special operation.”

The Leopard 2 is one of the German main tanks. The first prototype of the combat vehicle was built in 1972. The first serial Leopard 2 went to the German army on October 25, 1979.
