The Czech Republic is not ready to turn away from Leopard 2 tanks in favor of Ukraine. This was stated by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in an interview with DPA.
For the sake of Ukraine, the Czech Republic will not give up the Leopard 2 tanks that Germany supplies to it as part of the ring exchange.
“At the moment, it is impossible to transfer the Leopards, since we need these tanks to ensure our own security,” Fiala said.
The agency received this information after the meeting of the Czech Prime Minister with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.
Under the terms of the agreement with Germany on the ring exchange, the Czech Republic transferred several dozen Soviet T-72 tanks to Kyiv, and in return it should receive 14 Leopard 2 tanks from Germany, which began to enter the country in December last year.
