The meeting between America’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director William Burns and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was aimed at making sure that Ukraine would continue to supply information to Washington. The New York Times writes about this, citing a source in the US government.
Burns’ visit to Ukraine was made to ascertain the mutual exchange of information between Ukraine and the United States. The newspaper writes that the American administration was often dissatisfied with the fact that it knows more about the plans of the Russian Federation than about the plans of Ukraine.
At a secret meeting between the director of the CIA and the Ukrainian president, information was heard that the United States “presumably knows Russia’s military plans for the coming weeks and months.”
The question of how long Ukraine can hold out in the face of declining support from the West was also discussed. Burns admitted that at some point helping Kyiv will become much more difficult.
