Soon BMP “Marder” will be delivered to Ukraine. These machines have proven themselves on the positive side, however, they have never been used in combat before. Der Spiegel writes about it.
The publication clarifies that the Marder infantry fighting vehicles were previously used only in exercises, but were never used in active hostilities, so it is impossible to predict what technical problems this vehicle may have. It is noted that the BMP “Marder” is easy to use, it does not have complex electronics.
40 German Marder infantry fighting vehicles will already arrive in Ukraine this quarter, and the training of the Ukrainian military will soon begin, which will last about eight weeks. After they go to the special operation zone, however, this technique will have to face a heavy load.
Der Spiegel writes that being in the special operation zone and performing combat missions, these machines need constant maintenance and replacement of spare parts. It is noted that the BMP “Marder” will fail for technical reasons.
