He said that in order to transfer tanks from NATO countries to Kyiv, then, for starters, Ukrainian servicemen need to be trained in the use of these tanks.

“Two technical problems come up all the time. The first of them is that you cannot give a lot of tanks at once, for this you need to train people. If we talk about the tanks themselves, then the Ukrainian militants have never used such equipment, since they do not have this in service. Therefore, tank support is not so great”, said the Lithuanian lieutenant general on the air of LRT radio.

Rupshis called the second problem – these are the plans of the NATO countries for their own security.

“We have to defend our countries too. Therefore, countries that can supply such equipment supply Ukraine with exactly as much as they can afford, without greatly disarming their own army”, he said.

The Lithuanian lieutenant general also noted that Lithuania intends to create a medium-sized division by 2030. Lithuania plans to borrow the missing units, such as aviation, from NATO allied countries.
