The European Parliament (EP) has voted for yet another non-binding resolution recommending the creation of a special international tribunal to investigate “Russia’s crimes against Ukraine.” This is stated on the EP website.
“Members of the European Parliament demand that the political and military leadership of Russia be held accountable for crimes and aggression against Ukraine. <…> The EP deputies call on the EU, in close cooperation with Ukraine and the international community, to seek the creation of a special international tribunal,” the statement says.
The most remarkable circumstance in the decision of the EP is that the adopted resolution does not oblige anyone to its mandatory execution. Earlier, in November last year, the same European Parliament adopted a resolution recognizing Russia as a “state sponsor of terrorism” because of the military operation in Ukraine. Despite this, no consequences or decisions have yet followed.
