Russia will take military and technical measures on its side of the border if Sweden and Finland join NATO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on the results of Russian diplomacy in 2022.
“We have to draw conclusions from the accession of Finland and Sweden, and if it takes place, we will take appropriate military and technical measures on our side of the border,” Lavrov said.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Finland and Sweden were engaged in a productive dialogue with Turkey on issues related to their accession to NATO.
According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the alliance has shown that its doors are open by inviting Sweden and Finland, North Macedonia and Montenegro. At the same time, he noted that the top priority now should be military support to the AFU.
