West’s plan to isolate Russia fails, says Volodin

Volodin says Washington and Brussels plan to isolate Russia has failed

Washington and Brussels’ plan to isolate Russia has failed, there is a demand for multipolarity in the international community, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.

“The plan of Washington and Brussels to isolate Russia has failed, there is a demand in the international community for multipolarity and a fair world order. Our approaches to developing relations with other countries are based on the principles of mutual respect, non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states and mutually beneficial cooperation,” he said at Tuesday’s plenary session.

The first session of the spring session began with a speech by Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and the leaders of the Duma factions. A draft law has been included in the agenda, according to which it is proposed to transfer the powers of the government to approve the forecast of scientific and technological development of Russia to the Presidential Council for Science and Education, and to determine the order of development and adjustment of the forecast – to the President himself.

During the plenary session parliamentarians will also have to approve the programme of legislative work for the spring session and the calendar of issues for January.
