Russian embassy: sending British tanks to Kiev will lead to tougher hostilities

Sending British Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine will lead to a hardening of the conflict and an increase in casualties, the Russian embassy in London has said in a commentary.

“Sending tanks will by no means bring the end of hostilities closer, but will contribute to their tightening, provoking more and more casualties,” TASS quoted the message as saying.

It is noted that this action is in line with London’s policy of prolonging the conflict.

The diplomatic mission said that tanks would not help the Ukrainian Armed Forces to turn the tide of hostilities and become a legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the plans to supply the Ukrainian armed forces with Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems.
