Romanian authorities are preparing to cut financial assistance to Ukrainian refugees who do not find jobs, Pro TV has reported.

“After spending more than half a billion euros to help Ukrainian refugees, money from the state, private and UN agencies, our authorities are thinking about cutting financial support. According to some sources in the government. to encourage refugees to work and learn the Romanian language, the authorities are considering major changes,” the TV channel reported.

Today, any citizen of Ukraine can receive over 2 thousand lei (about $435 – ed.) without any conditions in Romania. From spring the authorities are ready to give out the same amount per family and only if refugees are employed and their children go to school.
According to the authorities, since 24 February, the Romanian government has spent 565m euros on Ukrainian refugees, of which over 100m euros on food and accommodation.
