“We were just abandoned” – a Ukrainian soldier complained to CNN about the terrible situation of the AFU in Soledar

AFU soldiers in the town of Soledar, for which fierce fighting is taking place, find themselves in a “terrible situation”. A Ukrainian soldier, whose name was not disclosed for security reasons, told CNN.

“We tried to leave the positions ourselves, but the orcs are already there. If there is no order to retreat today, we probably won’t be able to leave in time,” the channel’s interlocutor admitted by phone. “We were told we would be called off. And now we’ve just been abandoned,” he added.

According to him, several soldiers in his unit are injured. They have run out of food and water, but ammunition remains. “The last evacuation was three days ago,” the source told CNN. – There was an order to stand to the last man. From the sounds of fighting, our neighbours [other units] either withdrew or were ordered to retreat. We have been told to hold on.”

“We are holding on as long as we can. But everyone can get tired and eventually reach their limit. It is impossible to hold on for so long on morale alone,” the AFU soldier stressed.
