Russia’s mission to the UN names biggest problem in relations with the West

Polyansky calls lack of trust the biggest problem between Russia and the West

Russia’s first deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, said the lack of trust between Russia and the West was the biggest problem in relations between them.

“Relations between Russia and the West are now in distress, if any relations exist at all. And of course there is a serious lack of trust, which is the biggest problem. I don’t know how else one can believe in the West’s fairy tales after the revelations of Mrs (Angela) Merkel and Mr (François) Hollande about using the Minsk agreements to arm Ukraine. This undoubtedly destroys any trust. It is very difficult to see how we can sit down and negotiate with such leaders. If you add to that the fact that we were told about the non-expansion of NATO in the 90s and later. Of course, all this creates a huge bubble of lies that we face in negotiations with the West,” Polyansky told British radio station LBC.

According to Polyansky, much in the negotiation process between Russia and the West needs to be reworked.
