NATO to deploy AWACS aircraft in Romania to monitor the Russian military

NATO will deploy AWACS (Airborne Warning & Control System) long-range detection and targeting aircraft in Romania to monitor Russian military activity. They will be based in Bucharest, the planes will arrive there on January 17.

NATO is reportedly using a fleet of Boeing E-3A long-range radar detection aircraft.

At present, the alliance’s airbase in Geilenkirchen, Germany, is home to 14 AWACS aircraft.
