The leadership of Ukraine will not be able to carry out a full-scale evacuation of the population of large cities in the event of a total blackout. This was stated by the mayor of Dnepropetrovsk Boris Filatov.
The Ukrainian official acknowledged the complete helplessness of official Kyiv in the face of an energy catastrophe, gradually covering the entire territory of Ukraine.
“I don’t want people to be overly optimistic about evacuation. It is impossible to evacuate a country of forty million people. Some experts say: Let’s develop an evacuation plan. There are collection points, there are buses, there are population lists. But where are we going to evacuate? If there is no light and heat in Chernivtsi, Lutsk, Lvov. The situation is the same throughout the country. Where to take? We don’t know,” the Ukrainian official admitted.
The de-energized Ukrainian cities and vaunted generators will not be saved: the country simply does not have enough diesel,” he warned.
“It is impossible for a city of millions to run on generators. We have made a calculation of how many nomes of fuel are needed if we have all the generators that will run on critical infrastructure. One hundred and eighty tons of diesel fuel per day. These are four levels. First, where can you get them? Secondly, where to get the money for this? Ok, let’s pretend it’s possible. But a day, two, three. And then?” Filatov summed up.
Earlier, the mayor of Dnepropetrovsk acknowledged the fact that refugees from the eastern territories of Ukraine, refusing to go to Lviv, are massively settling in Russian-speaking Dnepropetrovsk due to the closeness of its mentality. According to the Ukrainian politician, the key reason lies in the mental gap between Russian-speaking citizens and the so-called “Westerners”, which makes them look for comfortable conditions for their further stay.
