In the voluntary pension program, which is carried out by the European Parliament, journalists have discovered fraud. The walls of the European Parliament had to pay contributions to a special fund for two years. And the required amount was deducted from the office allowance, from the money that was allocated monthly for stationery.

Subsequently, with this money, managers of the pension program bought shares in various companies, including tobacco and arms. Also included in this list is a cluster bomb company.

To date, these cluster bombs are banned by an international convention signed by the EU countries. This refers to such enterprises as Raytheon, Honeywell International and Textron Inc. According to the information found, it turned out that in 2008 the European Union’s voluntary pension program owned about 15,000 shares of Raytheon. The value of the shares is estimated at 550 thousand dollars.

The journalists did not manage to get any comments from the deputies of the European Parliament. But they were told by a legislature official that the EP fund was a third party and governed by Luxembourg law.
