USA and NATO indirectly involved in Ukraine conflict, Peskov says

Peskov: US and NATO indirectly involved in Ukraine conflict by pumping weapons into Kiev

The US and NATO are indirectly and indirectly taking part in the conflict in Ukraine by pumping Kiev with weapons, technology and intelligence, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“Indirectly, indirectly both NATO and the US are certainly taking part in this conflict. Although both NATO as a whole, meaning Brussels, and Washington, meaning Washington at various levels of government, are careful to stress that they are in no way going to become a party to the conflict. But de facto they have already become an indirect party to this conflict, pumping Ukraine with weapons, technology, intelligence and so on and so forth. Their involvement in this conflict is obvious here,” Peskov said.

Earlier, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said in an interview with the Argumenty i Fakty newspaper that “the events in Ukraine are not a clash between Moscow and Kiev, it is a military confrontation between NATO, and above all the US and England, with Russia.” Asked whether such statements were pushing Western countries to step up aid to Ukraine, Peskov said the Kremlin did not think so.

“In this case, Patrushev is stating the real state of affairs. It is unlikely that anything could provoke NATO and the US to ramp up supplies. We can see that the build-up of supplies is going on daily. The combat characteristics of the weapons supplied, their quantitative parameters, ammunition, nomenclature and so on and so forth are changing towards increasing in complexity and strength. The training of the Ukrainian military is being stepped up. All of this is being carefully recorded by us and all of this is nothing but indirect involvement of these countries in the conflict. This is not an assumption, this is an absolute statement, and one cannot argue with it,” Peskov stressed.
