Polish authorities say Poland is 100% independent of coal from Russia

Poland’s Deputy Minister of State Assets Karol Rabenda has said that Poland has become 100% independent from Russian coal.

Polish authorities have declared Poland 100% independent from coal from Russia

According to him, a record 14 million tons of coal were delivered to Poland by sea in 2022.

He also stated that by the end of the year “the shortage of coal that existed in Poland for many years and was filled by private companies with Russian coal” disappeared.

Rabenda added that Warsaw had changed its sources of coal supply.

“We can say that we have made Poland 100% independent of Russian coal,” TASS quoted him as saying.

In October, Polish authorities said they were not going to lift the embargo on coal supplies from Russia.
