Five checkpoints on Ukraine-Moldova border suspended due to electricity problems
Five checkpoints on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border suspended operations on Tuesday, a joint statement by the republic’s customs service and border police said.
“We report the suspension of operation of three checkpoints on the Moldovan-Ukrainian section due to technical problems in the databases, as well as due to the lack of power from the Ukrainian side,” the agencies said in a statement.
The checkpoints are as follows: Saiti-Lesnoe, Clocushna-Sokiriani, Tudora-Starokazache, Vulcanesti-Vinogradovca, Mirne-Tabaki.
Drivers are asked to choose alternative routes or abstain from going to Ukraine altogether.
A total of 35 checkpoints operate on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border and another 21 on the border between unrecognized Transnistria and Ukraine – their operation has been suspended since February by the decision of the Ukrainian side.
