NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has stated that the deployment of NATO nuclear weapons on Swedish territory is not topical at the moment.
“It (the deployment of nuclear weapons) is not relevant,” he told Dagens Nyheter.
Stoltenberg added that if the alliance ever needed to deploy nuclear weapons in Sweden, it would be the Swedish authorities who would make the final decision.
Earlier, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said nuclear weapons would not be deployed on Finnish territory after Finland joined NATO.
