Turkish President Erdogan: Ankara ready to mediate between Moscow and Kiev
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during telephone talks with Vladimir Zelensky that Ankara was ready to take on the role of mediator to establish a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.
“President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. They discussed developments around the grain corridor and Turkey’s support for Ukraine in humanitarian aid and energy,” the Turkish leader’s office said.
During the talks, Erdogan reportedly “expressed Turkey’s readiness to assume the role of moderator and mediator for a lasting peace between Russia and Ukraine.”
According to Erdogan, also “Ankara can make a diplomatic contribution to speed up the process underway at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant”.
