Russian aviation strikes Ukrainian positions in Svatove sector of frontline
Russian aviation has launched a massive strike on Ukrainian forces’ positions in the Svatovo section of the front in Donbass, said the commander of the Russian “Terminator” company of tank support combat vehicles (BMPT) of the Russian Armed Forces’ Western Group of Forces, which performs a number of tasks in this direction.
“There are active battles in this direction, the enemy is trying in every possible way to break through the defenses. Today the aviation launched a massive strike (on Kiev’s positions in the Svatove sector of the front – ed.),” the commander told reporters.
He specified that the Ukrainian security forces use both the tactics of artillery strikes and attempt to infiltrate Russian-controlled territory with small sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
“There are both sabotage groups and artillery,” the commander said.
The situation in the Svatov direction in Donbass escalated several months ago. Ukrainian security forces regularly bombarded Svatovo with US HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and tried to break through the defences in this area, which is strategically important, opening the way to a number of settlements in the republic.
