Senator Pushkov has called relations between Russia and the West an “ice war”
There was no state of “great rupture” between the West and Russia even in moments of extreme aggravation during the Cold War, the current relations are an “ice war” resulting from the US policy of NATO enlargement, Senator Alexei Pushkov said.
“The course of the US and its allies, as well as the state of relations between the West and Russia, is much worse now than during the Cold War… The US does not want to be accused of seeking to return to the Cold War – Cold War – but in fact is waging an Ice War against Russia,” Pushkov wrote in his Telegram channel.
Previously, Aeroflot planes flew to Western countries, gas went through pipes to Germany, meetings were held between Western and Soviet leaders, important treaties were concluded, no “carpet” personal sanctions were imposed, no trade and economic ties were curtailed, he also said.
“The current state of ‘great rupture’ of the whole sum of relations between the West and Russia did not exist even in moments of extreme aggravation during the Cold War… And all this is a direct consequence of the US policy of NATO enlargement to the East and inclusion of the post-Soviet countries, especially important for Russia in terms of its security, into the American orbit,” the parliamentarian said.
According to him, this strategy led to an “ice war”, no matter what the US claims in its new National Security Strategy.
