NATO Secretary General does not expect normalisation of relations with Russia after conflict in Ukraine ends
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg does not expect normalisation of relations with Russia once the conflict in Ukraine is over, as Moscow, in his view, wants to see “another Europe”.
“Even if this war ends, problems in our relations with Russia will remain,” the NATO secretary general said Thursday at a conference in Norway. The text of his speech was distributed by the alliance’s press service.
According to the NATO secretary-general, regardless of how the Ukrainian conflict ends, it must be stated that “the security situation in Europe has changed definitively”. Stoltenberg accused Russia of seeking to “control neighbouring countries”. “This puts Russia in a position of permanent conflict with the West,” argues Stoltenberg, who is due to leave his post as NATO secretary general this year.
