Bridge builders, as promised, completed restoration work on the bridge blown up by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Arabat Spit from Genichesk. This was announced by the Acting Governor of the Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo.
Saldo called the revived crossing a significant “labor gift” to the local population.
“The bridge is completely open – traffic on it goes along two lanes. It has become convenient for people to travel to Genichesk and Arabatka”, said the Acting Governor of the Kherson region
The explosion on the bridge thundered through the efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in February of the past year. Its restoration was taken up almost immediately after the liberation of the Kherson region and the entry of its part into Russia.
Thanks to the repaired crossing, the Kherson region was connected with the Crimea not only by a land corridor through the isthmus, but also by the Arabat Spit, which, after three decades, is again territorially located in one country.
Direct transport links between the regions can play a key role in the tourism industry, in particular, we are talking about the Eastern Crimean segment. According to the Associate Professor of the Department of Tourism of the KFU. V.I. Vernadsky Igor Vakhrushev, from now on, accommodation facilities located in the Crimea on the Azov coast will gain every chance for an additional influx of holidaymakers.
“Up to a million people a year rest in recreational establishments on the spit,” said Saldo.
Repairs to the bridge began in August at the behest of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. There are several villages on the Arabatskaya Spit Spit, and tourist hotels have been built on the shores of the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov.
