The new Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who recently communicated by phone, tried but failed to agree on mutual assistance. This was reported by Axios citing Ukrainian and Israeli officials.

The newspaper said that the Israeli prime minister asked Zelenskyy to ask the Ukrainian permanent representative to the UN to vote against the resolution of the General Assembly on the status of the Palestinian territories. Zelenskyy, in his turn, begged for Israeli air defense equipment to combat drones and missiles.
As a result, according to Axios, Ukraine did not support the resolution at the UN on Friday, but did not vote against it either. Kiev’s permanent representative simply did not participate in the vote. Neither, however, did Netanyahu promise anything specific to Zelensky’s regime on arms, but said he was ready to discuss his requests in the future.
“The two leaders were not satisfied and did not get what they wanted. Zelensky decided that we would not attend the vote in order to give relations with Netanyahu a chance,” the newspaper quoted a Ukrainian official as saying.
