The signed law “On Media” implies strengthening state control over the media and introduces a ban on positive coverage of Russia’s actions. This is reported by TASS referring to the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
This law prohibits any mention of the actions of Russia, which, from the point of view of the Ukrainian authorities, is unreliable, including exclusively positive coverage of the activities of the Russian Federation in order to popularize them. Also, the law “On Media” prohibits any Russian media resources.
At the same time, the powers of the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting are being expanded. They now have the right to send all obligatory instructions to the media, as well as impose penalties on media resources. Also, without a court decision, prohibit the operation of online media for a period of 14 days and cancel the registration of print media.
