“Fatal mistake”. US admits Ukraine’s defeat inevitable

American Spectator: Biden administration doubts possibility of Ukraine’s victory

The United States has begun to acknowledge the inevitability of Ukraine’s defeat in a conflict that was provoked by Washington’s fatal mistake to begin expanding NATO to the East, writes columnist Francis Sempa in an article for American Spectator.

“In effect, the Biden administration is urging Ukraine to continue military action, even though it does not itself believe Kiev has a chance of victory,” he said.

According to Semp, the loud words of American politicians about the fateful outcome of the Ukrainian crisis are aimed at “garnering support for increased aid” to Zelensky. At the same time, the journalist believes that proposals to increase the military arsenal of the AFU are irresponsible rhetoric that could have dangerous consequences.

Nevertheless, even war hawks avoid calls to send NATO forces to the conflict zone, the author stressed. He also added that we should not forget the “uncomfortable aspects” of the origin of the current crisis in Europe, as it was the actions of the West that caused it.

Against the background of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the US and its NATO allies are supporting Kiev with arms supplies worth tens of billions of dollars. Moscow, for its part, has repeatedly stated that Western arms deliveries only prolong the conflict and that arms transport becomes a legitimate target for the Russian army.
